Open Roads

Fridays ride to Nayland took us on roads we had not cycled for over 2 years and an enjoyable lunch was had at The Anchor.

This Friday is Good Friday, if you want to ride will you please let me know and I will arrange one otherwise we will resume on the 26th April.

No Candyfloss, doughnuts or sausage rolls

So on Friday I took the wrong turn to Walton and we ended up at Stratford St Mary to be disappointed that the sausage rolls were not ready I had to make do with an open Coronation chicken sandwich with a pint of Adnams Oyster.

This Friday if the weather is favourable we will venture to Nayland, please note a later start for this week only of 11:00 a,m.

At Last we made Gt Bentley

The Friday B Group well 4 of us took the train and then did the 10 mile figure of eight ride finishing at The Plough, the weather was just about perfect.

Weather permitting we will meet as usual at 10:30 Friday and take the train to Walton then follow the coast route to Clacton returning via the same route.

Beth returns to Canada on Thursday and we wish her a safe journey, she and Ian will be back in the Fall.

Now the weather is warming I hope we will see more of you out with us on Fridays, the rides vary from 15 to 25 miles return trip from Leasureworld at a pace of between 9 to 12 mph.

Ride Changes

The proposed ride around Bentley is off.
We are going to take a leisurely ride following part of last weeks ride and finish at the Bricklayers Arms.  I wish to hold a meeting to discuss cycling etiquette as I do not want a repeat of last week it is not fair on the ride leader.  I also wish to discuss new routes that will stretch some of you and issue the emergency number list which will assist communications should the group get split when out.
I also have information on Greater Anglia’s cycling policy and on Cycling UK’s return to Colchester to start a new group.
If you are unable to ride please consider meeting us at the pub at 1:00pm

New Rides

Over the past few weeks I have looked at new rides and lunch stops for the Wednesday rides as follows.

Donkey and Buskins Layer de la Haye

The White Hart West Bergholt

The Barn Turkeycock Lane

The Half Butt Inn Great Horkesley

Friday rides as follows.

The Chequers Great Tey

The Swan Chapel

We will ride to The White Hart on the 13th March

I need Inspiration

I am running out of ideas for Wednesday rides, the issue is where to stop for lunch.  This week I propose either the Donkey and Buskin or The Bricklayers Arms via an alternative route.

ATW Cycle Repairs (Andy Woolf) is still undertaking Service as Repairs.  He can be contacted on 07963 196129 or bookings can be done online at www.atwcyclesrepairs.com. A collection and delivery service is available.

Friday we may get out at last, Dedham.

News Updates

Wednesdays ride to Great Bentley was cancelled, although I went down to Leasureworld it was to cold for my breathing so Barry took the Ladies section to Wivenhoe, there were issues on the train service as well.

The weather for this Wednesday is much the same and I doubt I will ride.  You can meet as normal and decide a route amongst yourselves.
